Weekend Camping Trip – Canada Day

We spent the weekend at my Mom & Dad’s cabin. There is still a lot of work to be done, but for now it makes for a great campground. So far, the most fun play area has been the gravel pile.

It was a good thing that we didn’t end up selling our trailer last fall. We had it there along with my parent’s. Like I said, even without the cabin finished, this is a great spot to camp.

Tchesinkut Lake was still very cold. A local told us that it usually warms up enough so as to not be mind numbing. We hope he was kidding a little. Frances and I got in over our knees, but Hannah actually spent some quality time swimming.

Of course, there has to be some fishing out at the lake. We did take the boat out, but didn’t bring the rods with us. Since we didn’t get any trolling in, Josh did his best to show his Mom how to cast.

Of course this made me think of “Whoa Baby!”

The cabin is coming along nicely now. There is a whole bunch of sanding happening now. Once that is all done it will get cleaned and sealed. Then the windows and doors will go in. Once it’s all locked up then the finishing and mechanical work can start. Here are a few pictures of the progress.

Scott & Steph and the boys came out on Monday to hang out for the day. I didn’t get any good shots of the Olesiuk boys, but I did manage to grab this one of their Dad diving into the lake. For a one shot deal I was pretty happy how it turned out.

At the end of the day Monday, we packed up and headed for home. On the ride home we were a little lighter. Josh decided to go home with the Olesiuks to spend some time with Hudson and Gavin. Since it’s now Tuesday morning, at 1AM, happy Canada Day!

Also, check out the entire camping photoset on our Flickr page. There are some pretty nice pictures of the kids. I do love that 50mm 1.8 lens.
