Sun and moon

It’s been a little quiet around here. We’re planning on doing a photo update on the house soon. It’s amazing how long it takes to get all the little things done :)

For now, this is one reason we appreciate this place so much.

Headed south

We’ve headed south. First we stopped in Delta to visit Carolyne and Brad. While we were there they had a big mountain ash removed. The kids were quite interested.

After it came down, they were very helpful.

Nate was also helpful to Auntie Frances. He made her coffee. Safety first!

This morning we boarded a ferry to Victoria.
He's on a boat!

Once we arrived we checked out the sights. Here’s Josh at the BC Legislature building.

Here’s the same building at night.

Lastly, here’s a shot from the Inner Harbour. Our hotel, The Empress, is in the background.

Good night all. We’ve only got one more day off before the big race. Crazy.

Candy Cane Lane

On Monday we headed down to Mackenzie Avenue and Candy Cane Lane. The roads were a little treacherous, but it was still worth the walk around. It was kind of fun picking out which displays used to be in different yards. At one point Frances was able to just let Toby pull her down the icy street. Good times.

And just because it only happened 90 minutes ago, here’s a moose that walked in front of me on my way to work this morning.

Family Christmas Photo

It’s one thing to get a good family photo while being behind the camera. It’s quite another to get one while being in front of it on a cold day. I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out. Merry Christmas.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:10-12

TWiT Photo Guest Quest

A few weeks ago I decided to enter the Twit Photo Guest Quest contest. Basically, listeners of the podcast were invited to submit photos for a chance to be on the show. I wasn’t so excited about actually being on the show so much as having an amazing group of judges potentially looking at my photographs. The judges were, Frank Doorhof, Art Wolfe, Tamara Lackey, Colby Brown and Zack Arias. This is an amazing group of photographers.

Late last week I found out I was a finalist. I wasn’t quite sure what that meant. I’ll admit that I was pretty excited. As it turns out there were hundreds of entries. Was that a hundred, or many hundreds? Either way I found out today that I ended up finishing in the top 20. I’m listed in a group of 10 folks after the winning top 10. A part of me figured I had a shot, and a part of me thought that there was no way I’d even get noticed. I’m extremely happy to have been acknowledged by the judges listed above.

Here is the post by Catherine Hall announcing the winners.
